Description	:	Augustin Forsyth was born 28 Sep 1857 in Wilton, Maine; the home town of his mother. He was the son of Scottish immigrant William Forsyth and Maine native Abby Bates. His parents were married in 1848 in Lowell, MA. Abby Bates was the daughter of Thomas Bates and Charlotte Robbins. Augustin's father, William Forsyth, was born in Scotland in 1817 to James Forsyth (Sauchie, Stirlingshire, Scotland) and Jennette (Hastings) Forsyth (Thornhill, Stirlingshire, Scotland) who both came to Ryegate, VT between 1817 and 1820, based on the places of birth of their children. He was the son of Scottish immigrant William Forsyth and Maine native Abby Bates. His parents were married in 1848 in Lowell, MA. Abby Bates was the daughter of Thomas Bates and Charlotte Robbins. Augustin's father, William Forsyth, was born in Scotland in 1817 to James Forsyth (Sauchie, Stirlingshire, Scotland) and Jennette (Hastings) Forsyth (Thornhill, Stirlingshire, Scotland) who both came to Ryegate, VT between 1817 and 1820, based on the places of birth of their children. They then moved to Topsham, VT per the census records. They are buried in the East Topsham Cemetery. William Forsyth, Augustin's father, was born in Scotland, and William's sister Susan was born in 1820 in Ryegate, VT. William married first, in Ryegate, VT, Artsa or Arthura Henderson, who died within a few years of their marriage. She is buried in Blue Mt. Cemetery in Ryegate, VT. William then ran a boarding house in Lowell, MA for the mill workers in the 1840's to 1850's, were he met and married Abby Bates, Augustin's mother. They later moved to Wilton, ME where Augustin was born. She died there, and then William, Augustin's father, moved to Topsham, VT where William married as his 3rd wife Sally Caldwell Dustin. Augustin married Clara Keyes Forsyth late in his life. Clara had already been married twice before he married her. He had 3 daughters with Clara: Christy, Beulah and Gladys. His grave actually lists the wrong year of death for him. He definitely died in 1940, not 1914, of arteriosclerosis and chronic myocarditis per his death certificate.
