Services were held Monday, November 24, 2008, at United Methodist Church in Minden with Mary Schukar officiating. Burial was in Eaton Cemetery at Heartwell. *** Aurel was born on a farm southeast of Heartwell on September 25, 1918, to John and Helene I. (Liebers) Gleason. She attended grade school in the area and the first two years of high school in Heartwell. She graduated from Minden High School. After graduation she entered the work force, first in Omaha and then moved to Cleveland, Ohio. After a few years there she attended Dyke School of Commerce in Detroit, Michigan; after graduation she worked as a secretary in the daytime and at night she worked for the Signal Corps during World War II. After a few years she was asked to come to New York City and work for a gentleman who was just starting a new business there. After his death she obtained a job with T. Rowe Price and Associates in their New York office. Aurel later was transferred to their home office in Baltimore, Maryland. While in Baltimore, she was their personnel manager. She retired in September of 1982 and in February of 1983, she moved back to the home farm in Nebraska. Aurel enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and was an avid reader. Her family was also a very important part of her life. She spent the last two years of her life at the Bethany Home in Minden. Aurel is survived by two sisters,Camilla Hegarty of Eagle, Neb., and Anita Gleason who lives on the family farm near Minden. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and three cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
