Gee on 24 Dec 1857 in Newton, Iowa. The funeral services for Mrs. Dora Harvey Gee, whose death occurred on Wednesday afternoon, February 17th, 1915, were conducted Friday afternoon at the home of her niece, Mrs. Sears McHenry in Denison. Mrs. Gee has been making her home in Denison with her niece for many years, and has made many friends in Denison. She was an ardent church worker until late years, and a good true friend to all and highly respected and loved by whomever she met. It has been her privilege to live to a good old age, she being 78 years old at the time of her death. Dora Harvey Gee was born at Siloam, Madison county, New York, on the 21st day of July, 1836. When she was 17 years of age, she moved with her parents to Newton, Iowa, where in 1856(sic) she was married to George Gee. To this union were born 3 sons, all of whom passed away in infancy. During her married life, Mr. and Mrs. Gee lived in Iowa City, Chicago and Council Bluffs, and in 1875 they moved to California. Soon after reaching the coast, Mr. Gee died, and since his death Mrs. Gee has lived in various places in the Pacific coast states, returning to Iowa in 1893. She had her home at Logan, Iowa, with her brother, Mr. A. L. Harvey, until the death of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey, after which she came to Denison, making her home with their daughter, her niece, Mrs. Sears McHenry. One brother, E. J. Harvey, of Charles City, Iowa and several nephews and nieces survive her. During the last year of her life, Mrs. Gee has been a constant sufferer, and gradually grew weaker and weaker until the end came last Wednesday. She has been a lifelong follower of the Savior, and a devoted worker for her Master, in the church of her choice, the Presbyterian, of which she has been a member since girlhood. The funeral service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. C. Tourtellot, at the home of her niece, Mrs. Sears McHenry, in Denison, Ia., at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 19th. The interment was the same afternoon in the cemetery at Logan, Iowa, where she had for so many years made her home. Relatives from out-of-town who were in Denison attending the services and also went to Logan were as follows: E. J. Harvey, brother, of Charles City; Edward and John Harvey, nephews, and Mrs. Eva Bodley, niece, of Newton, Iowa; George and Charles Harvey, nephews, of Logan; Robert Harvey, nephew, of Missouri Valley; Frank Harvey, a nephew from Juneau, Alaska; and Prof. Berton Bailey, of Cedar Rapids, who is a nephew by marriage.
