Description	:	Mr. Austin Beachley Coblentz, 92, Jefferson, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, March 31, 2014. Born March 28, 1922 on the family farm, he was the son of the late Walter B. and Mary Beachley Coblentz. Austiin was the husband of Elaine Smith Coblentz who predeceased him in November 2005. Austin was a wonderful father, father-in-law, and grandfather who was very proud of his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren and their successes in life. Read More	Mr. Austin Beachley Coblentz, 92, Jefferson, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, March 31, 2014. Born March 28, 1922 on the family farm, he was the son of the late Walter B. and Mary Beachley Coblentz. Austiin was the husband of Elaine Smith Coblentz who predeceased him in November 2005. Austin was a wonderful father, father-in-law, and grandfather who was very proud of his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren and their successes in life. He enjoyed family visits and would listen to how life was going for them. His heart was the farm where he spent his entire life making sure the animals, fields, and buildings were producing and being maintained properly. His proud smile could always be seen when talking about the soybean, corn syrup or how well the alfalfa was growing. he was active physically on the farm until recent years, but was always sharing his wisdom of farming with son Steve with whom he lived. Austin was the sixth generation Coblentz to farm on the same parcel of land in Middletown Valley. He walked to elementary school on Poole road and then completing his education in Middletown, graduating from Middletown High School in 1940 and continued to work for his parents on the family farm. During his school years Austin was very active in agriculture and sports. He met Elaine at Braddock Heights roller rink, where many enjoyable hours of his youth were spent and they married in 1946. They managed Catoctin View farm raising their four sons. His pride and joy Hickory Vale SC Pride his Holstein bull won National Grand Champion in 1957 at the Chicago Expo. he was a contract bus driver for over 20 years with Frederick County Public Schools with wife, Elaine. he and his wife enjoyed traveling the United States by bus with many local couples with his camcorder in hand detailing the trips. A baseball or basketball game was enjoyed being watched as free time permitted. For many years Austin would transport many excited child and their parents to the pumpkin patch with one of his tractors at Jumbo's Pumpkin Patch. In recent years he completed many a word search book to pass time and was proud of his pile of completed books. Reminiscing avout farming and school life with family and friends always made for enjoyable visit. Austin was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Middletown, the Andrew and Philip Sunday School Class, UCC Cemetery board treasurer, Middletown Valley Grange, Holstein Friesian Assn., and Maryland Virginia Milk Producers Assn. He is survived by four sons, Rev. James A. Coblentz and wife Ellen of Thurmont, Oliver L. Coblentz, Steven R. Coblentz, and Allen B. Coblentz and wife Joyce - all of Jefferson. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Sandra Royer and husband Will, Merhl Coblentz and wife Charity, Todd Coblentz, R. Steven Coblentz, Jackie Ratliff and husband David, Alex Coblentz and wife Jordan, Katherine (Kate) Coblentz, Bradley Coblentz, and Holden Coblentz nine great-grandchildren - Justin and Dylan Royer, Caleb, Emily Rose and Brooke Coblentz, Elaine, Coblentz, Garrett, Thatch, and Caidyn Ratliff 1 brother - Walter Lee Coblentz - Jefferson and sister-in-law Doris Coblentz - Frederick and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Lou Ann Coblentz, sister Marion Boyer; brother Martin P. Coblentz; infant brother Hugh O. Coblentz; sisters-in-law Thelma Coblentz and Velma Coblentz. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the chapel at Christ Reformed UCC, 12 S. Church St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 1 PM on Friday April 4 from the church. Rev. Mark A. Wakefield will officiate. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to National Parkinson Association, Gift Processing Center, POB 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018 or to Christ Reormed Church, POB 333, Middletown, MD 21769.
