Read More	DIED: - MRS. AUSTRESS E. TEMPLETON, FRIDAY, FEB. 7, 1902, AGED 73 YEARS, 4 MONTHS AND 28 DAYS. The deceased, whose maiden name was Austress Elizabeth McKinney, was born in Montgomery county, Ind., Sept. 9, 1828. She came to Iowa with her parents in the year 1838, making this her home ever since. On August 24, 1847, she was united in marriage with T. G. Templeton. Seven children, four boys and three girls were the result of this union; all of whom survive her save one daughter, who died in infancy. The husband died Jan. 3, 1874, leaving the widow to travel life's journey alone. Mrs. Templeton suffered a stroke of paralysis Dec. 2nd, last, as the result of a long lingering illness, which she bore with christian fortitude and courage. Mrs. Templeton was a christian woman, having been a member of the Christian church for over 20 years. Of a quiet, retiring disposition, she sought to serve her master in a humble way, and of her it might well be written, "she hath done what she could." Therefore, in the words of the Good Book: "Blessed are they that die in the Lord." Rev, Clark Bateman, of the Christian church, conducted the funeral services from the church Sunday at 2 p.m. and interment made in Highland cemetery. (From the Eddyville Tribune, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14. 1902) ######################################################## Last Friday evening at 10:30 one of the oldest settlers of this place and also the state passed away when Mrs. A.E. Templeton, who had been bedfast for over three months from a stroke of paralysis, went to sleep like a little child to awaken where there is no sickness nor sorrow but eternal peace. The deceased was born in Montgomery county, Indiana, September 9, 1828, and came with her parents to Monroe county, Iowa, in 1838. She was married to Theodore Templeton in 1848. He died January 3, 1874. Six children survive to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate mother, as follows: Lemuel Templeton, Mrs. F.G. Packer, Mrs. Jackson Emanuel, W.I. Templeton, Mrs. Joshua Emanuel and Adolphus Templeton. One daughter preceded her in death. The deceased had 28 grandchildren 22 of whom are living and all were present at the funeral. There are also 5 great-grand children. The deceased moved from the old homestead to this city a number of years ago and of late had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Joshua Emanuel. Funeral services were held Sunday, February 9 at 2:30 p.m., at the Christian church, of which she was a member, Rev. Bateman, of Eddyville, officiating, and her remains consigned to their last resting place in the Eddyville cemetery. She was of pure Irish extraction and exhibited the wit and brightness of mind of that race up to within a short time of her death. One of the strange workings of God's will was made manifest in that house of mourning, for while one life was taken away another was given.
