Mr. Askwig in the early days was the owner of a wagon train and operated between the Missouri river point and Denver and the west. He does have a wife, son and daughter. Mr. Askwig is a brother of our town-man, James Askwig, and is well and favorably known by many of our old settlers. Aven was born August 13, 1835. Gaines. Early last spring Mr. Askwig sold his personal property and rented his farm north of Elkhorn and accompanied by his wife, went to Seattle, Wash., in hopes of benefiting his health. Finding very little relief there they returned to Nebraska three weeks ago. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery this afternoon. [ Since all of his previous family is buried at Prospect Hill in Elkhorn and as you can see his name on the large headstone, too, this cemetery name is incorrect in the newspaper article.] Mr. Askwig in the early days was the owner of a wagon train and operated between Missouri river points and Denver and the west.
