Description	:	The funeral for Avis M. Vopalensky, 79, of Fremont, formerly of Hooper, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. She died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. Avis Tillman was born May 12, 1922, in Hooper. She grew up in Hooper and graduated from Hooper High School in 1939. After high school, she worked at Petrow's Cafe in Fremont where she met her future husband, Leonard Rold. They were married in Papillion in December 1941. Vopalensky, 79, of Fremont, formerly of Hooper, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. She died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. Avis Tillman was born May 12, 1922, in Hooper. She grew up in Hooper and graduated from Hooper High School in 1939. After high school, she worked at Petrow's Cafe in Fremont where she met her future husband, Leonard Rold. They were married in Papillion in December 1941. They operated a roller rink which took them to surrounding states for several years. He died in June 1953 from injuries received in an accident. She then became a beautician and made her home in Hooper. She married Leonard O. Vopalensky Oct. 5, 1966, in Hooper. She operated her beauty shop in Hooper from 1954-62. She worked as a secretary for Dr. Heusel in Hooper from 1962-66 and also worked for several doctors in Fremont. They moved from Omaha to Fremont in 1991. She was a member of Emmanuel Fellowship Church in Omaha. Survivors include: her husband, Leonard Vopalensky of Fremont; two sons, Gary (and wife, Marsha) Rold of San Diego and Danley (and wife, Charl) Rold of Merriam, Kan.; a daughter, Patricia Vopalensky of San Diego; a brother, Jimmy (and wife, Jeanine) Tillman of Fremont; two sisters, Illa (Mrs. Robert) Stalp of West Point and Jacqueline (Mrs. David) Brooks of Fremont and her mother-in-law, Vlasta Vopalensky of North Bend. She was also preceded in death by a brother. The Rev. Morton Cain of Emmanuel Fellowship Church in Omaha will officiate Friday's service. Visitation is noon to 9 today and 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, all at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hooper Cemetery in Hooper. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society."
