Description	:	Big Timber Pioneer, April 18, 1990 Axel M. Voldberg, 72, passed away Saturday, April 14, 1990, at his home on the East Fork of the Sweet Grass of natural causes. He was born January 24, 1918, in Glen Flora, Wisconsin, the son of Andrew and Martha Voldberg. He moved to Montana in 1939, working on various ranches in the Big Timber area. He bought the... Read More	Big Timber Pioneer, April 18, 1990 Axel M. Voldberg, 72, passed away Saturday, April 14, 1990, at his home on the East Fork of the Sweet Grass of natural causes. He was born January 24, 1918, in Glen Flora, Wisconsin, the son of Andrew and Martha Voldberg. He moved to Montana in 1939, working on various ranches in the Big Timber area. He went into the service during WWII. He married Olga Hegdal on September 23, 1942, in west Los Angels, California. After the war, they moved back to Big Timber where he worked for Eric Hammersmark. He bought the ranch on the East Fork of the Lower Sweet Grass in 1947. They have been on the ranch since. He was a member of the Big Timber Lutheran Church where he served numerous times on the Church Council. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Lower Dry Fork School and the Sweet Grass County High School, a member of the Sons of Norway, American Legion Post 19 of Big Timber, and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed his family and visiting with friends. Survivors include his wife of Big Timber; two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Virginia) Pearce and Mrs. Bruce (Mariann) Duncan, both of Big Timber; two sons, Andrew O Voldberg of Chelanm WA, and David A. Voldberg of Big Timber; four sisters: Sigrid Wasser, Fresno CA, Olga Johnson of Glen Flora, WI, Ingrid Wasser of Maple Grove MN, and Ruth Lapkiewicz of Roselle, IL.; two brothers, Arvid and Norman Voldberg of Glen Flora, WI; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. from the Big Timber Lutheran Church with burial with military honors in Mountain View Cemetery. Contributor: Julia Kinsey (48922386) •
