Her funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa, the Rev. Robert Dean officiating. Burial: Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Barbara Ann Barnes, daughter of Wallace and Helen Moore Bovee, was born July 15, 1928, in Oskaloosa. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1946. She married Raymond Frank Barnes on April 20, 1947, in Oskaloosa. They operated Barnes Hatchery and Feed, where Barb was bookkeeper and helped with many other aspects of the business. In 1973, she and Ray moved to a farm west of Oskaloosa. Barbara was a 57-year member of Central United Methodist Church, where she belonged to United Methodist Women and helped with the Ecumenical Cupboard. She also was a member of T.T.T. Chapter CY. Barb enjoyed reading, church activities, working crossword puzzles and spending time with her family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Raymond, of Oskaloosa; a daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Larry Bucheit of Boone; a son and daughter-in-law: Ronald and Toni Barnes of Thornton, Colo.; five grandchildren: John Bucheit of Wheaton, Ill., Maia Barnes Turnbull of Marshalltown, Amanda Bucheit of Iowa City, Corine Barnes of Marshalltown and Travis Barnes of Westminster, Colo.; four great-grandchildren: Briona and Kanaan Turnbull, and Marcelite and Lucinda Bucheit; a sister, Murial Jansen of Marshalltown; and a sister-in-law: Ruth Barnes of Pella. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law: Monika Rauba Barnes.
