Description	:	Raymond died Monday at the Boone County Hospital at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 6 days. He had been a resident at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone since February of 2007. Services will be held on Friday afternoon, October 29th, at 2pm at the Eastern Star Masonic Home Chapel in Boone with Deacon Darwin Messerlly officiating. Following the service in Boone, the casket will be taken to the Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. Raymond was born on June 19, 1919 in Leighton, Iowa, the son of Wilbur Clark and Susan(Mitrisin)Barnes. Raymond graduated from Tracy High School in 1937, at which time he began his chicken hatchery business. On April 20, 1947, he married Barbara Ann Bovee in Oskaloosa, Iowa. After their marriage, he and Barbara owned and operated Barmes Hatchery amd Feed from, 1947 to 1973, when they sold the business and moved to a farm west of Oskaloosa, near Leighton. In 1997, the couple moved to their home in Oskaloosa. Raymond was a lifetime member of the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa and a former member of the Farm Bureau. In addition to owning and operating a business and returning to farming at age 54, Raymond was an accomplished builder, having built several homes and two hatchery buildings in Oskaloosa. He continued to remodel and "tinker" throughhout his retirement. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Bucheit and husband Larry of Boone, Iowa; a son, Ronald Barnes and wife Toni of Thornton, Colorado; five grandchildren: John Bucheit of Wheaton, Illinois, Maia Barnews Turnbull and husband Adan of Marshalltown, Iowa, Amanda Bucheit Englehardt and husband Rich of Canton, Michigan, Corine Barnes of Marshalltown, Iowa and Travis Barnes of Westminster, Colorado; five great-grandchildren: Briona, Kanaan and Trevian Turnbull, and Marcelite and Lucinda Bucheit; and a sister-in-law, Muriel Jansen of Johnston, Iowa. His parents; Wife, Barbara in September of 2004; a sister, Theresa; two brothers: Thomas and Cecil; a sister-in-law, Ruth Barnes; a brother-in-law, Earl "Bud" Jansen; and a daughter-in-law, Monika Rauba Barnes preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the family for a memorial to be determined at a later date. Visitation: will begin at 10 am Saturday morning, October 30, 2010 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Fueral Chapel. The family will be at the funeral chapel from 1pm to service time.
