She completed her eighth-grade education at District 32 and on Feb. 15, 1927, she married John Joseph Bessmer. Mrs. Bessmer was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and its Alter Society and was a VFW Auxiliary member for over 55 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John (Jack); one daughter, Lois Jean in infancy; one son, Junior John Bessmer; two sisters, Rose Gilster and Lillian Hayes; and two brothers, Edward Dufek and George Dufek. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Margie Bessmer of Norfolk; two sons, Ronald and wife, Catherine Bessmer, and Keith and wife, Sharon Bessmer, all of Plainview; one sister, Agnes Bessmer of Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Bloomfield; 19 grand children; 60 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
