GEORGE DUFEK SUCCUMBS SUDDENLY Passes Away Early Saturday At Plainview Hospital Residents of this community were shocked Saturday morning to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. George Dufek, living northeast of Plainview Friday afternoon and was brought view. Mrs. Dufek was in seemingly good health, but was taken suddenly to the Plainview hospital that evening where she passed away at 5:30 Saturday morning. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, first at the home and at 2 o'clock and at the Congregational church at 2:30, with Rev. Ward K. Klopp conducting the services. Rev. Klopp was assisted in the services by Rev. B. A. Fillpi, of Clarkson, who gave a fine sermon in the Bohemian language, giving a short history of the life of the deceased from the time of birth in Bohemia until her death here. Six nieces of the deceased acted as flower girls at the services. They were Misses Silvin, Allee, Anna, Georgin, Marjorie and Clara Dufek. The church was packed to capacity and a large number of friends were unable to find seats in the building and had to remain on the outside of the church. Agnes Krofta was born in Czeko-Slovakia in Bohemia October 27, 1878, and passed away at Plainview, Nebraska, June 17, 1933, aged fifty-four years, seven months, and twenty one days. At the age of twelve years she came to America with her parents and settled on a farm near North Bend, Nebraska. Later they moved to a farm near Rescue, Nebr. There she was married to George Dufek of North Bend, Nebraska on February 12, 1900. The couple settled on a farm near Rogers, Nebr., where they lived for three years, moving from there to a farm twelve miles west of Dodge, where they lived for two years. From there they moved to Plainview where they have since resided on a farm six and one-half miles northeast of town. To this union were born seven children, five daughters and two sons, one daughter, Anne, dying in infancy. The children left to mourn her loss are Barbara, Mrs. John Bessemer; Agnes, Mrs. Frank Bessemer; and Rose and Lillian, and Edward and George Jr., at home. She is also survived by her husband, George Dufek; her aged father, one brother, Anton Krofta, of Linwood, Nebr., and two sisters, Mrs. James Dufek of Verdigre, and Mrs. Joe Schwartz of Perry, Oklahoma, also three grand- children, and a host of relatives and friends who loved her. Mrs. Dufek was a member of the Bile Hore Z.C.B.J. lodge of Verdigre, of which she was a devoted worker.
