Description	:	Barbara Elizabeth Dieffenderfer Fisher was born in New Columbia, Pennsylvania, November 20th, 1843, where she grew to womanhood and on February 10th, 1863, she was united in marriage with Abraham D. Fisher. They removed to Constantine, Michigan, and then in the year 1871, they came to Fairmont, Nebraska, where they resided ever since. The family was a vital factor in the great task of changing the pioneering conditions into the present state. She was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and her life of service and unselfishness proved her vital communion with her Master. Fisher. They removed to Constantine, Michigan, and then in the year 1871, they came to Fairmont, Nebraska, where they resided ever since. The family was a vital factor in the great task of changing the pioneering conditions into the present state. She was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and her life of service and unselfishness proved her vital communion with her Master. Last September, the burden of caring for her invalid husband became too great for her strength, and so the son, Preston B. Fisher of Beaver Crossing, transferred his parents to his home where he supplied their every need and where the mother, who was really giving her life in the care of her husband, might be spared, but it had already been too far spent, and she was called to her reward Saturday, March 26, that she might have the enjoyment of Eastertide in the Eternal Realm. She had attained the age of seventy-eight years, one month and sixteen days. Her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Susie E. James of Grafton and two sons, Preston B., of Beaver Crossing and Leroy H., of Oxford, mourn her loss. Two children died in infancy, and eight grandchildren will ever remember the noble life that has been left as an example. Besides these, a wide circle of friends and relatives who are witnesses of a most exemplary life, and that "she did what she could" throughout her life, even to the last. Such lives that are spending themselves in service are they which will received the plaudit, "Well done, good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Episcopal church, Tuesday afternoon, March 29, at two o'clock by the pastor, Charles P. Lang, assisted by Rev. J.M. Norris and Rev. James Deans of Grafton. Interment was made in the Fairmont cemetery.
