On October 25, 1895, at Fountain Green, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Mr. Robert J. Boyd, of Courtland, Nebraska. To this union were born four sons and two daughters. Read More	Barbara Elizabeth, daughter of Louis and George Schwerer, was born in Hancock County, Illinois, January 6, 1859, and departed this life at Superior, Nebraska, January 2, 1944, just four days short of her 85th birthday. On October 25, 1895, at Fountain Green, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Mr. Robert J. Boyd, of Courtland, Nebraska. To this union were born four sons and two daughters. Her husband preceded her in death on January 26, 1922, and their elder daughter, Mrs. Ethel Maude Hall, on July 12, 1929. The remaining children are: Roy Louis Boyd, Jacksboro, Texas, John Frank Boyd, Post Oak, Texas, Robert James Boyd, Trenton, Nebraska, and Joseph Wesley Boyd and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Kiechel, both of Superior, Nebraska. Also surviving her are one sister, Miss Rosetta Schwerer, and two brothers, Joseph and Henry Schwerer, all of Blandinsville, Illinois, thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, other relatives and unnumbered friends. In 1885 Mrs. Boyd came as a bride to Trenton, Nebraska, where she retained her residence for the remainder of her life, except for eleven years spent with her husband and family in the state of Colorado, and the latter years of her widowhood spent in the homes of certain of her children. As a pioneer wife and mother, she experienced the rigors and hardships incident to life in a new and sparsely settled region. The lessons in frugality and economy she had learned from her thrifty parents stood her in good stead during these lean and trying years, and these she continued to practice throughout her life, even after the necessity for economy ceased to be a necessity. As a girl, she united with the Methodist Church, remaining a faithful member of that institution, and a devoted adherent to its principles all her life. Her family and friends constituted her greatest passion, and upon them she lavished a generous and unstinted affection. At the approach of the recent Yuletide season, despite the natural feebleness of her advanced age, and the handicap of a weakened right arm, broken only a few years ago, she laboriously penned literally dozens of personal Christmas greetings to absent members of her family and to long-time friends; - messages filled with love and faith and encouragement. She died as calmly, as serenely, and as unafraid as she had lived. Her memory will bless and inspire all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church at Trenton at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Paul Martin, Cambridge, officiated. A mixed quartette sang, and a requested duet, "Welcome Home" was sung by the deceased's two youngest grandsons, Don Boyd and Doane Kiechel, Jr., with accompaniment by a granddaughter, Donna Kiechel. Burial was in the family lot in the Trenton cemetery (sic). Card of Thanks. The J.W. Boyd and D.F.
