Description	:	Joseph Wesley Boyd was born to Robert James Boyd and Barbara Schwerer Boyd on November 3, 1894 at Eckley, Colorado. Mr. Boyd died after a brief illness on February 21, 1972 in Harris Methodist Hospital in Forth Worth, Texas at the age of 77 years. He spent his boyhood days in Yuma, Colorado and Trenton, Nebraska where he graduated from High School. He taught one year in country school near Trenton before entering Peru State College in 1914 graduating in 1916. While at Peru he was editor of the Year Book, champion debator and quarterback. He spent his boyhood days in Yuma, Colorado and Trenton, Nebraska where he graduated from High School. He taught at the David City High School for one year. He was united in marriage on July 10, 1917 to Gladys Chaney. They made their home briefly on a farm near Trenton before Mr. Boyd entered Law School at Lincoln. He graduated magna cum laude in 1923. He practiced law in Norfolk, Nebraska before moving to Superior in 1924 where he made his home until 1969 when he moved with his daughter. He was a member of Delta Theta Phi, Order of the Coif, past Lt. Governor of Kiwanis, Elks, Eastern Star, the Masonic Orders, the IOOF, and the United Methodist Church of Superior. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor Joan; his wife, Gladys; a sister, Ethol and a brother, Robert James. He is survived by a son, Don A. of Wilmington, Delaware; a daughters, Mrs. Guy R. Sykes, Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren, Nancy, Karen, Steven, Carol and Margaret Boyd and Guy, Joel, Theresa and Sandra Sykes. He is also survived by two brothers, Roy L. and J. Frank of Jacksboro, Texas; one sister, Mary E. Keichel of Lincoln, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home. Rev. Lloyd V. Mohnkern officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery with Masonic rites.
