Barbara was born March 26, 1940 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She was raised in Morrill by her parents, Duane Halstead and Isabelle (Hall) Halstead, alongside her three sisters and brother. Read More	Barbara Esther Derr, 77 years of age, of Morrill, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Douglas Care Center in Douglas, Wyoming. Barbara was born March 26, 1940 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She was raised in Morrill by her parents, Duane Halstead and Isabelle (Hall) Halstead, alongside her three sisters and brother. Barb attended Morrill Public Schools from Kindergarten through senior year. On September 6, 1959, she wed Robert “Bob” Leroy Derr of Lyman. Barb and Bob were blessed with five children: Cindy, Connie, Carol, Jeff, and Meg. They made their home at Lake Minatare and moved to Morrill in 1971. Barbara was a caring farm wife and mother. She later worked at Walker’s Garage which allowed her flexibility to become a school bus driver with Morrill Public Schools. Barb was devoted to her children and being a bus driver enabled her to attend and support her children in all their activities. She drove to athletic contests, band events, and a school bus route for 26 years before she retired. Barb supported and loved all students that set foot on her bus and had a smile and positive words for each. Barb truly enjoyed Huskers sports, the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. She cheered enthusiastically for these teams as well as Morrill’s student athletes. Her sewing skills were admired by all and many still hold mementos she made for them. She was actively involved in her church, Plymouth Congregational in Scottsbluff. Barb was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Bob and her granddaughter Zoey Derr. She leaves her children to celebrate her life: Cindy Fonger of Torrington, Wyoming; Connie Little of Helena, Montana; Carol and Mark Stevens of Helena, Montana; Jeff and Kasi Derr of Blue Springs, Missouri; and Meg and Dave Shuger of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren: Christy and Tyson Feagler; Mike Fonger and Kara Stewart; Kyle and Camron Stevens; Veronica and Jason Shuger; and Jackson Derr; great-grandchildren: Claira Feagler; Trayton Fonger; and Braleigh Fonger. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 743 Winter Creek Drive in Scottsbluff.
