'''''''''''' Cedar Valley Promoter (Cedar Rapids, Nebr.), August 30, 1956, p. 1, col. 4 Barbara Dieter Passed Away Aug. 21 Barbara Gleissner, daughter of John and Margaret Gleissner, was born June 2, 1877, in Germany and passed away at her home in Cedar Rapids, Tuesday night, August 21. She came to America at the age of eleven and lived near Madison, where she grew to womanhood. On February 7, 1895, she was united in marriage to Daniel Dieter. To this union were born six children, four boys; and two girls: Edward, of Plattsmouth; Dr. L. D. Dieter, of Syracuse, who preceded her in death; Frank and Albert, of Omaha; Margaret, (Mrs. John Homan) and Germaine, (Mrs. Arnold Batenhorst), both of Cedar Rapids. The deceased lived at Madison until 1911, when she and her family moved to Cedar Rapids. Mr. Dieter died in 1928. She leaves to mourn her loss: three sons, two daughters, nineteen grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at St. Anthony's church, Friday, morning, August 24, with Father Buehler officiating. Pall bearers were her six grandsons: Joe Dieter and Edward Dieter of Omaha; Leo Homan, of Omaha; Paul and Leonard Homan and Daniel Homan, of Cedar Rapids. __ CARD OF THANKS We wish to take this means of thanking our many friends and neighbors for assisting us during the recent illness and death of our beloved mother, also for the beautiful floral and spiritual offerings.
