Mr. Deiter has been in failing health for a number of months and had disposed of his business here and went to Otoe, Nebr., to be under the care of his son, Dr. Simon Deiter. Frank and Ed Deiter were summoned to Otoe late Tuesday night owing to their fathers condition. Mr. Deiter passed away about 5 a.m. Wednesday. The remains will arrive here today for burial, and funeral services held Saturday morning from St. Anthony's church. '''''''''' Cedar Rapids Outlook, October 17, 1929, p. 1, col. 4 OBITUARY Daniel Dieter passed away at the home of his son, Dr. L. Daniel Dieter at Otoe, Nebr. Wednesday, October 9th at the age of 57 years and 24 days. He was born near Madison, Nebr., September 15, 1873 where he grew to young manhood. On February 7, 1895 he was united in marriage to Barbara Gleissner. To this union were born six children, four boys and two girls, Albert of Nebraska City, Dr. L. Daniel of Otoe, Edward, Frank, Mrs. John M. Homan and Germaine all of Cedar Rapids. The deceased lived at Madison until 1911 when he and his family moved to Cedar Rapids, Nebr. where he was engaged in farming until 1922, then moving to town entered into business until his health failed him. He leaves to mourn his loss besides his wife and children, twelve grandchildren, two brothers, Adam and Leonard Dieter of Madison, one sister, Mrs. Albert Widhelm of Lindsay and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at St. Anthony's church Saturday morning at 9 o'clock which was largely attended by relatives and friends. _____ CARD OF THANKS We wish to take this means of thanking our many friends and especially the neighbors for assisting us during the recent illness and death of our beloved husband and father, also for the beautiful floral and spiritual offerings.
