Description	:	Barbara Jane Swanson, 88, of Genoa, Nebraska, died Friday, March 29, 2019, at the CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 11:00 A.M. at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa with Rev. Myron Meyer officiating. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the church and on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:45 A.M. Read More	Barbara Jane Swanson, 88, of Genoa, Nebraska, died Friday, March 29, 2019, at the CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. We lost our Mom: Barbara Jane was born December 25, 1930 in Genoa, NE to Elmer & Gladys (Bradshaw) Lowe. She went to Country school at District 66 & Big Cut 1-11th grade then graduated at Genoa High School 1948. December 18, 1949, she married her childhood sweet heart Kenneth Harry Swanson. They farmed for 15 years and raised four children Jim, Jolene, Mick, and Lorrie. They moved to town after the flood in ‘66. Jane was employed 5 yrs. at Ramaekers Home & 5 yrs at Dale’s Electronics. She worked 30 years at Genoa Community Hospital as a nurses aid. She truly enjoyed working at the hospital and people said she gave the best care & the greatest back massages! She worked as kitchen help at Pawnee Senior Center until she was around 77yrs young. Later in life she befriended Dick Pearson. They enjoyed so much of their life together telling stories, playing cards and traveling to various places. She enjoyed watching the Huskers, reading books, playing in the Pawnee Sr. Band, knit/crotchet, gardening, cooking, and visiting family, friends, and neighbors. Barbara Jane is survived by: Son: Mick (Patty) Swanson of Brady, NE Daughter: Jolene Brandenburgh of Kearney, NE Daughter: Lorrie (Bob) Beller of Monroe, NE Brother: Bill (Louise) Lowe of Mesa, AZ & Cedaredge, CO Sister: Sally (Larry) Kline Lake Isabella, CA Grandchildren: Courtney (Jason) Roberts, Stacy (Pat) Cabela, Mandy (Mike) Johnson, Heather (Rich) Bahlmann, Serena (Jeremiah) Hanes, Megan (Nick) Heitman, Ashley (Brent) Konwinski, Justin (Alison) Hoeke, Joey Hoeke, Laura Swanson, Lacey Swanson (Kyle Lange), Lena Swanson, Kesha (Wade) Viter, Cinta (Riley) Anderson 25 Great Grandchildren Barbara Jane was preceded in death by: Her parents: Elmer and Gladys (Bradshaw) Lowe Husband: Kenny Swanson Son: Jim Swanson Grandson: Pat Swanson The family would like to thank all of you who have reached out with open hearts and caring hands during this time. Your thoughtfulness and compassion will not be forgotten. She will always be a whisper in our ear & the love & warmth in our hearts. We will miss her so much!
