Barb was born on July 11, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Ila (Klemp) Deterding. She was raised in rural Tripoli and graduated from Tripoli High School in 1968. Read More	Barbara Lee Mixdorf, age 67, of rural Tripoli, Iowa, died Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Barb was born on July 11, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Ila (Klemp) Deterding. She was raised in rural Tripoli and graduated from Tripoli High School in 1968. Barb then attended Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, graduating in 1970. On November 29, 1970, Barb was united in marriage to Darrel Mixdorf at St. John’s Lutheran Church Crane Creek, rural Tripoli. During her life Barb worked for Waverly Publishing, as a homemaker, Tripoli Nursing Home as a cook, Austin Interiors in Waverly, and Kay and L Draperies in Waverly, retiring in July 2016. Barb was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Crane Creek, where she was baptized in 1950 and confirmed in 1964. She enjoyed reading, card playing, day trips, and sewing, however, Barb’s greatest enjoyment was her family, especially attending her grandchildren’s activities. Barb’s memory is honored by: her husband, Darrel Mixdorf of Tripoli, Iowa; two children, Karri (Aaron) Brandsfield of Granger, Iowa and Bryan (fiancé Gail Tapia) Mixdorf of Moline, Illinois; her mother, Ila Deterding of Waverly, Iowa; two grandchildren, Courtney and Kiley Brandsfield of Granger, Iowa; a brother, David Deterding of Tripoli, Iowa, and a sister, Lois (Virgil) Pries of Waverly, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Deterding. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 19, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly where family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Crane Creek, rural Tripoli. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church Crane Creek. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly assisting the family with arrangements.
