Read More	Page 1 of Witness, published in Dubuque, Iowa on Thursday, May 19th, 1927 OLDEST WOMAN IN IOWA FALLS TAKEN BY DEATH Mrs. Barbara Wingert died very suddenly Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at her home on College Avenue. She had been in her usual health and her death came very unexpectedly and as a great shock to her many friends. She had helped with the household duties during the day, and at the time of her death was hoeing in the garden. Mrs. Wingert was the oldest woman in Hardin County, having reached the age of ninety-five years, and was so active and enjoyed life so much that she had often made the remark that she would like to live to be one-hundred years old. Not content caring for her own children, she had reared to manhood and womanhood four others, who mourn for her as their own mother. She leaves three sons and one daughter , Michael living at Wesley, Iowa, Joseph at Fort Dodge, L. W. of this vicinity, and Sister Remigia of Dubuque. Mrs. Eva Calliard died a number of years ago. Those whom she raised are John Wingert of Waterloo, Mrs. J. W. Studer, living south-east of Iowa Falls, Catherine, who has been making her home with Mrs. Wingert, and Barbara Calliard, whom she was cared for since a baby. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Church at 10 o'clock when a Solemn Requiem mass was offered for the repose of her soul. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery in Iowa Falls. Mrs. Wingert had always been a devout catholic, and since she was old enough to attend church she made it the rule of her life to attend mass each morning except when distance or illness prevented. She was in her accustomed place at the service on many morning during the past few weeks, and walked the three block between her home and the church.
