Read More	May 18, 1936 - Carroll Daily - Mrs. Barbara Kessler, 75, wife of the late Dr. A. Kessler, former prominent Carroll physician, died at 7:45 o'clock last night in the hospital here after a lingering illness. Mrs. Kessler had been bedfast since last August. She had been making her home in Sioux City with her daughter, Miss Lillian Kessler and recently expressed a desire to return to her old home. A week ago yesterday she was brought to the Carroll hospital. The body was taken to the Leo Kessler home at 209 North Carroll street this afternoon from the Kircher-Dictrich Funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 o'clock Wednesday morning in the Ss. Peter and Paul church and interment will be in the parish cemetery. Rev. Lambert Schenkelberg, pastor, will read the requiem mass. Mrs. Kessler was the former Barbara Bauer. She was born in Iowa City, Ia., on April 29, 1861, and spent here girlhood there. She became the bride of Dr. Kessler on Oct. 9, 1889, and immediately after their marriage the couple located in Carroll. They lived for a number of years in the large residence on North Carroll street which is now occupied by the Frank Gray family. The house was then located on the corner of Sixth and Carroll street and has since been moved one lot south. Dr Kessler passed away in 1929 and his widow remained here one year and then went to Akron, Ia., to make her home with a son, Dr. Ardan Kessler. In 1932 she went to Sioux City and had since resided at that place with her daughter, Miss Lillian. Dr. and Mrs. Kessler had six children. Irma Marie died in infancy and Alois passed away in 1911. Survivors include, Dr. C.J. Kessler of Carroll; Leo Kessler of Carroll; Dr. Ardan Kessler of Akron, Ia.; and Miss Lillian Kessler of Sioux City. She is also survived by three brothers, C.A. Bauer of Iowa City, H.A. Bauer of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Mrs. Artie Tharnish of Memphis. Tenn; and one granddaughter, Rita Kessler, daughter of Leo Kessler. Mrs. Kessler was an active member of Court St. Rose of Lima, No. 6. Catholic Daughters of America, and had been a member of that court for many years. The children were all with their mother when she passed away.
