IMHOLTZ IS CALLED TO REWARD Pioneer Dyersville Lady Passed Away After brief Illness at Age of 70 Years. Mrs. Barbara Imholtz, wife of the late Fidel Imholtz and a resident of the city for nearly a half century, passed away at the family home on West Main Street, last Friday morning at 7:25 o'clock, June 24, 1910. Deceased had been in failing health for some time, but about seven weeks ago she was taken down with stomach trouble which finally brought about her demise. Barbara Stoll, was born at Elsass, Lorane (sic) Southern France, now a part of Germany, on April 17, 1840, and was 70 years, two months and seven days of age when she was summoned to her reward. In 1850, at the age of ten years, she came with her parents, to America, settling at St. Louis, Mo., in 1851. After two years the family came to Cascade. On January 21, 1864 she was married to Mr. Fidel Imholtz at Dubuque after which they came to Dyersville and she has made this city her home ever since. Mr. Imholtz followed the occupation of shoemaker. He preceded his wife to the grave thirty years ago on July 3. Seven children were born to them, six boys and one girl. One son Louis died twenty years ago. Those surviving are Elisabeth, now Mrs. John Conrad, of Dyersville; John and Anthony, of St.Paul, August of St. Louis; Joseph, of Chicago and Edward of Dyersville. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. John Stangl, of Harper, S.D., and three brothers, August Stoll of St. Louis; Dr. Louis Stoll, of Smithland, Iowa; and John Stoll, of Worthington. Of a cheerful and kind disposition, generous to a fault, faithful in her responsibilities, Mrs. Imholtz was beloved by her children and numerous friends. She was a devout member of the Catholic church throughout her life and no sacrifice was too great if it meant the fulfilling of a Christian duty, or one that would be of benefit to her neighbors. While her voice is stilled, her memory will ever remain fresh in the minds of those to whom she was the dearest friend and mother. The funeral was held from her late home last Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock, to St. Francis church. Rev. Michael Ambrosy, officiated at the requiem services in the church and at the grave. The funeral was very largely attended. The pallbearers were Messrs. J.W. Westermeyer, August Bagge, Frank Holscher, Jacob Reiff, George Deyen and August Goerdt. ________ CARD OF THANKS We herewith desire to extend our sincere thanks to our neighbors and friends for their kindly assistance during the sickness and at the death of our beloved mother. –The Children.
