Description	:	Barbara was born May 1, 1858 in Hoslau, Bohemia (Hoslau, Bohemia is now Hvozdany, Plzensky, Czech Republic) to Georg and Maria (Lehanka) Soukup. She came to America at the age of 13 with her mother, Maria and sister, Margaretha arriving June 1871 at Baltimore, Maryland. They were reunited in Nebraska with her brothers, Wenzel and Andrew, who had come a year earlier. Her brother Johann Soukup stayed in Bohemia to care for their ailing father, Georg. They were reunited in Nebraska with her brothers, Wenzel and Andrew, who had come a year earlier. Her brother Johann Soukup stayed in Bohemia to care for their ailing father, Georg. The rest of the family changed the spelling to Sukup. In 1876 Barbara married Theodore Raubach. They had 8 children: Joseph, John, Henry, Frederick, Elizabeth (Carroll), Frank, Martha (Ruhlow), and Cora. Barbara passed away March 5, 1914 in Pierce, Nebraska. --------- from the Pierce County Leader dated March 12, 1914… Mrs. Theo. Raubach Dead Mrs. Theo. Raubach passed away at the family home three miles southeast of Pierce on Thursday March 5th at 9 o’clock a.m. Her death came suddenly. She had eaten her breakfast and soon after complained that she was not feeling well and took to her bed. In a short time her condition alarmed members of the family and they sent for a doctor at Pierce. On returning to her room she was breathing her last and in a few seconds has passed into the long sleep. Death is attributed to heart failure. Funeral services were held at St. Josephs church on Monday afternoon at ten o’clock. A large number of old friends gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to their dead friend. Father Theo. Mester conducted the services. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery south of town. The maiden name of Mrs. Theo. Raubach was Barbara Sukup and she was born in Bohemia town of Ronsburg [town of Ronsperg, village of Hoslau] on May 30 [May 1], 1858 and at the time of her death was 55 years 10 months and 5 days of age. [being born May 30 would have made her 55yr 9mos 3das at death]. She came with her mother to the United States and settled at Springbrach [Spring Branch] just west of Norfolk. From there they moved to Knox County. At the age of 18 she was married to Theo. Raubach at Pierce, Nebr. and since that time she has resided there. That surely was a long time ago and classed her as one of the pioneers of these parts. Mrs. Raubach was a kind and loving mother, held in highest esteem by a large number of friends. To her and her husband were born eight children all whom are living and are as follows—Joseph, John, Henry, Fred, Elizabeth, Frank, Martha and Cora. Henry is the principal of Schools at Page and Fred is in the automobile business in Valentine. The rest of the children live at Pierce. Deceased is survived by two brothers, Wendel [Wenzel] Sukup at Creighton and Andrew at Verdigre. To these sorrow stricken relatives the Leader unites with the people of this community in extending heartfelt sympathy. [Spring Branch is near where the State Mental Hospital was located in Norfolk.
