Description	:	The Verdigre Eagle- February 25, 1937 Barbara Svoboda was born Dec 24, 1845 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. She was married to Vaclav Novak in 1868. To this union were born six children in Europe, and two died in infancy and two children were born after the family immigrated to American in 1884. They settled on a farm near Schuyler, Nebr. Read More	The Verdigre Eagle- February 25, 1937 Barbara Svoboda was born Dec 24, 1845 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. She was married to Vaclav Novak in 1868. To this union were born six children in Europe, and two died in infancy and two children were born after the family immigrated to American in 1884. They settled on a farm near Schuyler, Nebr. In 1889 her husband was killed in an accident when he and a neighbor were coming home with a load of lumber and the team ran away. In 1890 she was married to Joseph Havel of Schuyler. To this union were born three daughters. The family lived there till the death of the father in 1905. As a widow, Barbara Havel lived with her children on the farm for four years and since that time she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Viterna until February 18, 1937, when she passed away at the age of 91 years. Surviving are John Novak, Santa Cruz California; Joe Novak, Mountain Home Idaho; Jim Novak, Verdigre; Emil Novak, Dodge; Antonia Novak Swanson, Valentine; Mary Havel Viterna, Verdigre; Josie Havel Coons, Stillwater Ok; Bessie Havel Walraven, Sterling Colorado; Also there are 43 grand children, 36 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren as well as other relatives and friends. One son, Louis Novak died in 1916. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, February 21 from the Jos Viterna home. The rites were conducted by Joseph Broz. Burial was made in the Bohemian National Cemetery at Jelen. The pallbearers were Edward Novak, Adolph Novak, Jenus Swanson, Joe Viterna Jr., Louis Novak and Harry Hoferer all being grandsons of the deceased. Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral of Mrs Barbara Havel were, Mrs Bessie Walraven, Sterling Colo; Mrs Antonia Swanson, Valentine; Emil Novak, Dodge; Mr and Mrs Jenus Swanson, Valentine; and Mrs and Mrs Harry Hoferer and son, Creighton.
