She was born June 24, 1859, in Bohemia, and had lived in Fairfax the greater part of her life. Surviving are six daughters: Mrs. Josephine Story and Mrs. Frank Boland, both of Fairfax; Mrs. Harry Metzger, Mrs. Edward Sears and Mrs. Gifford Tow, with whom she had spent the last winter, all of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Glenn Smith of Macomb, Ill.; one son, William Petrik of Chicago, and 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. One son, Frank J. Petrik, was killed in the World war, the first one lost of six who went from Fairfax, making Mrs. Petrik the first gold star mother in Fairfax. One other son and one daughter died in infancy. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Joseph Shimek of Cedar Rapids. Mrs. Petrik was a member of St. Patrick's church of Fairfax and of the Royal Neighbors and Anna Naprstek lodge No. 24, both of Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held in St. Patrick's church at Fairfax at 9 a.m. Monday conducted by the Rev. Father J.J. Buzynski. Burial will be made in the Fairfax cemetery. The body was taken from the Turner chapel to the home in Fairfax where friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday. Pallbearers will be the following grandchildren: George Story, Leo Sears, John Metzger, John Petrik, Robert Tow, Richard Tow.
