Description	:	BARRY LEE RABE was born in Oakland, Nebraska on April 20, 1951 to Willis and Muriel (Strand) Rabe. He passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012, at his home, three miles south of Oakland, at the age of 61 years. Barry attended District #64 and graduated from Oakland High School in 1969. He was baptized and confirmed at the Uehling Congregational Church, where he was a member and served as a trustee on the church board. He belonged to the FFA and 4-H. Read More	BARRY LEE RABE was born in Oakland, Nebraska on April 20, 1951 to Willis and Muriel (Strand) Rabe. He passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012, at his home, three miles south of Oakland, at the age of 61 years. Barry attended District #64 and graduated from Oakland High School in 1969. He was baptized and confirmed at the Uehling Congregational Church, where he was a member and served as a trustee on the church board. He belonged to the FFA and 4-H. He was a mechanic for Merlyn Nelson Farm Equipment and drove truck for Peterson Transfer before farming. He farmed with his father until Willis retired. Throughout his farming career Barry fed cattle, pigs, and did custom hay baling. One of the things he enjoyed most about farming was the time he got to spend with his good friends. Barry had three daughters, Kelly, Leah and Jane. Barry and his daughters lived on the home place his entire life. Barry enjoyed his family, his many friends, his motorcycles, and farming, but above all, his daughters. He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Rabe; sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Mick Tietjen; nephew, Marty Tietjen; twin grandsons, Clinton and Jacob Dortch. Survivors include his mother, Muriel Rabe of Oakland, NE; brother, Randy (Sharon) Rabe of Greer, SC; sister, Carrie (Chapman) Mertes of Witchita, KS; daughters, Kelly (Jim) Dortch of Oakland, NE; Leah Rabe and friend, Luke Ruggles of McCook, NE; Jane Rabe and friend, Clayton Nincehelser of Gretna, NE; granddaughters, Karlie and Evie Dortch; many treasured nieces and nephews and a host of friends. FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, November 14, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland. VISITATION: Tuesday, November 13, 2012, 1 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation Wednesday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. BURIAL: Baptist Cemetery, Uehling, Nebraska MEMORIALS: Memorial may be directed to the family.
