Ball Gymnasium of Ashtabula High was named for her husband. (continued on p. 2 (with photo): Born in Utica, Ohio, Aug. 15, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Mildred (Evans) Berry. Mrs. Berry had resided in Ashtabula since 1932. She was a teacher of Latin and English and had taught in the Mogadore, East Geneva and Ashtabula area school systems until her retirement in 1969. Mrs. Ball was a member of the First Methodist Church; a lay delegate to the East Ohio Conference of the Methodist Church; a member of the United Methodist Women; mission coordinator for Christian Global Concern in the Women's Society. Treasurer and member of Ruth Circle, Barnes Bible Class; past president of Wesleyan Service Guild; a Red Cross volunteer for many years; a member of Delta Delta Delta College Sorority; Delta Kappa Gamma Professional Sorority, National Retired Teachers Assn. and a charter member ond past president of Chapel Hill-Toppers Golf League. Mrs. Ball was an avid sports enthusiast in basketball, baseball and golf. She was also talented at knitting. Mrs. Ball was graduated from Minerva High School in class of 1927, and Mount Union College in 1931, and did post-graduate work at Kent State University. Her survivors include her husband, whom she married May 16, 1931; one son, Jeffery Berry Ball, Cuyahoga Falls; one daughter, the Rev. Sue Ralph of Akron; one brother, Roger N. Berry, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; three grand-children and one nephew. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret M. Berry, in 1973.
