Born March 17,1935,in Batavia,she was the daughter of Albert and Ada Horning Smithhart.On Sept.25,1954,she married Donald W. Thornton. Mrs.Thornton worked at the Iowa Ammunition Plant, Lausers,and Old and New Things Plus. She also owned and operated Fashions Crossroad. She was a member of the Frist United Methodist Church,Mount Pleasant, attended the Burlington Beauty Academy,and was an active support person for cancer patients. Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Debra Blevins of Jamestown,Tenn.,Terry Gately... She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece. The funeral for Mrs. Thornton will be at 2p.m.today at Frist United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant with the Rev.Deb Kiesey officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetary. Memorials have been established for the Hospice of Henry County and the American Heart Association.
