Burial was at Bethel Chapel cemetery. Mrs. Weaklend died at a local hospital July 1 after a long illness. She was 54 years old. Belva Mae Weaklend, the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. William McKinney, was born March 27, 1895 at Woodburn, Clarke county, Iowa. She died July 1, 1949 at an Osceola hospital at the age of 54 years, 3 months and 4 days. On October 8, 1913 she was married to L. Hugh Weaklend. To this union were born six children, three sons and three daughters: Audrey, Arthur, Raymond, Lena Mae and twin daughters who died in infancy. In 1927 Mrs. Weaklend united with the Center U. B. church which was at that time pastored by the Rev. L. L. Morris. She expressed her Christian faith both in word and deed and her last request written in a note to her family was "Do not - weep, for I am above waiting for you all." Mrs. Weaklend leaves to cherish her memory her faithful and loving family as follows: her husband, L. Hugh Weaklend; three sons, Audrey, Arthur and Raymond; one daughter, Lena Mae; her aged, father; William. McKinney; two daughters in-law and three grandchildren, all of Osceola; five brothers, John McKinney of Ogden, Utah; Ray, Willie, Donald and Kenneth McKinney of Newton, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Ina Gilpatrick of Portland, Ore. and Mrs. Ethel Davidson of Newton, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.
