Read More	Transcription from the February 21, 1981 Fort Madison, Ia., Democrat, page 3 Ben Poetting, 94, 1901 Avenue E, died at 7:42 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital. He had been in failing health one year and seriously ill three days. Mr. Poetting was born Feb. 6, 1887, in Fort Madison and was a lifelong local resident. He retired in 1949 as a baggage man and clerk with the C. B. & Q. Railroad with more than 30 years of service. He was member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad, Airline and Steamship Clerks. He was also a 50-year member of the Modern Woodmen of America. On June 18, 1912, in Fort Madison he married Margaret Decker, who died in 1972. Surviving are a son, Delbert J. Poetting, Fort Madison and several nephews and nieces. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. His parents were Joseph and Mary Poetting. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Robert Amborn will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The body is at the Barr Memorial Chapel where the family will meet friends from 7 to 8 Sunday evening and where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 Sunday evening.
