He had been in failing health for 2 1/2 years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, Rev. Vernon Sorenson officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Graveside flag-folding services will be conducted by American Legion Post 191 of Webster City. Visitation at the Foster Funeral Home is until 8 a.m. Wednesday. Benard Jansen, son of Herman and Lena (Greenfield) Jansen, was born July 22, 1926 on a farm near Blairsburg. He was educated in Kamrar, and graduated from Kamrar High School in 1944. He graduated from Webster City Junior College in 1949. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 in a medical corp. He married Janet Jones Burton on June 16, 1956 in Mason City. Mr. Jansen was employed as a U.S. postal carrier for 32-1/2 years, before retiring due to failing health. He is survived by his wife Janet, Webster City; three daughters, Dawn Burton, Omaha, Neb.; Debbie (Mrs. Paul) Anderson, Aurora, Colo.; Brenda (Mrs. Ron) Keenan, Webster City; five grandsons, Jay, Kenneth and Jon Anderson, and Nicholas and Daniel Ben Keenan; a sister, Anna (Mrs. Paul) Barkema, Jewell; and three brothers, Arend Jansen and Jim Jansen, both of Webster City, and Dr. Elton Jansen, Grundy Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Mr. Jansen was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, the Webster City Moose Lodge, was a life member of the V.F.W., was past commander and honorary life member of American Legion Post 191, and was past president of the Kamrar Lions Club.
