Description	:	Benedict Howard Osweiler "Ben", son of John & Mae (Webb) Osweiler was born August 20, 1931 in Sigourney, Iowa and passed from this life December 8, 2017 at the Clarke County Hospital at the age of 86 years. Read More	Benedict Howard Osweiler "Ben", son of John & Mae (Webb) Osweiler was born August 20, 1931 in Sigourney, Iowa and passed from this life December 8, 2017 at the Clarke County Hospital at the age of 86 years. Ben received his education in North English, Iowa and graduated from North English. Ben proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War 1951-1953 where he took part in the battle of Pork Chop Hill. He was united in marriage to Patricia Jolene Steyne on November 10, 1956 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and was blessed with seven children. Ben farmed for 19 years in North English and Green Valley Area. He then worked in Iowa City for the State of Iowa Liquor Store and then transferred to Williamsburg, Iowa. After the state closed these stores he was then employed by the Iowa Department of Human Services. Ben & Pat moved to Altoona and Carlisle before moving to Osceola. Ben was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the V.F.W. in Osceola. He was an avid Iowa State Fan and was an accomplished woodworker, receiving many awards from the Iowa State Fair competitions including Best Of Show. He also enjoyed golfing, manicuring his yard, his Chihuahua dogs "Patty" & "Sparky", playing the card game "Pepper" and playing "Kings Corners" with his grandkids. Ben leaves to cherish his memory; son, Tim (Cherie) of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter, Marcy (George) Fotiadis of Osceola; son, Phil (Holly) of Williamsburg, IA; son, Randy (Candace) of Williamsburg, IA; son, Roger (Paula) of Victoria, MN; son, Kevin (Anita) of Pine Bluff, AR; daughter, Brenda (Ed) Hebl of Corydon, IA; sisters, Margie Clarahan of Harper, IA, Imogene Steele of Barnes City, Donna Daub of Kankakee, IL. As well as 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren as well as other relatives and many friends. Those relatives who preceded Ben in death were his loving wife Patricia, his parents; father in law, John Steyne, mother in law, Mayme Steyne; brothers, Ed, Paul, Dan, Joe, Bob and Mervin "Pat" Osweiler; sister Marcella Osweiler; brothers-in-law, Ken Daub, Les Steele, and Ken Clarahan also preceding were a grandson, Heath Osweiler and step granddaughter, Jennifer Blake. Memorial Contributions may be directed to HCI Care Services of Osceola or Knights of Columbus in Osceola.
