Description	:	Information taken from the "Powhattan Post" newspaper, Powhattan, Kansas, Friday, January 18, 1895: Benjamin A. Sprague was born in Graham County, Ohio, May 15th 1823. (According to his stone, and the other obit, he was born in 1833) He moved to Illinois with this parents when he was about 14 years old. He was married to Susan Brown on March 4, 1852. This union was blessed with nine children, seven of whom are still living. He moved to Brown County, Kansas, September 6, 1858, and settled on his farm three miles southwest of Hiawatha, on which he resided... (According to his stone, and the other obit, he was born in 1833) He moved to Illinois with this parents when he was about 14 years old. He was married to Susan Brown on March 4, 1852. This union was blessed with nine children, seven of whom are still living. He moved to Brown County, Kansas, September 6, 1858, and settled on his farm three miles southwest of Hiawatha, on which he resided until February 20, 1893, when he moved one half mile west of Hiawatha. He then moved to Hiawatha last fall where, after a protracted sickness of about six months, he died January 12th. Mr. Sprague was a noble man, a true friend, and a citizen of which we were all proud. The family has the sympathy of all in their hour of affliction. Rev J. K. McGinnis, assisted by Rev. J.W.R. Clardy, conducted the funeral services, which were held last Monday. Information taken from the "Brown County World" Hiawatha, Kansas, Friday, January 18, 1895: Benjamin Alden Sprague died Saturday, January 12, 1895, at his home near Hiawatha. Mr. Sprague was born in Galion, Ohio, May 15, 1833, and was married to Miss Susan Brown at Quincy, Illinois, March 4, 1852. They came to Brown County in September of 1858. Nine children blessed their union. Funeral services were held Monday from the family residence. Rev. McGinnis preached the sermon. Mr. Sprague left his property to his widow. His sons, N.P. and James are the executors.
