Description	:	Susan "Brown" Sprague was born February 2, 1835, in McDonough County, Illinois, and spent her early childhood in Illinois and Pennsylvania. She died Monday, April 29, 1929, at her home at the age of 94 years, 2 months, 27 days. She was married to Benjamin A. Sprague at Quincy, Illinois, March 4, 1852. To this union nine children were born. Five preceded her in death . . . Charles in infancy, Alta Smith, Anise Hendrie, Lois Wright, and William A. Her husband, Benjamin, died January 12, 1895. She is survived by two sons .... Read More	Susan "Brown" Sprague was born February 2, 1835, in McDonough County, Illinois, and spent her early childhood in Illinois and Pennsylvania. She died Monday, April 29, 1929, at her home at the age of 94 years, 2 months, 27 days. She was married to Benjamin A. Sprague at Quincy, Illinois, March 4, 1852. She is survived by two sons . . . James W. Sprague, of Powhattan and Nicholas P., of Hiawatha . . . two daughters, Mrs. Laretta Hulton, of Oakwood, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Susan Vincent, of Jamestown, Kansas. Also 31 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren. The family moved from Illinois to Brown County in 1858, and homesteaded 3 1/2 miles southwest of Hiawatha. Mrs. Sprague resided with her daughter, Mrs. Hulton, on the homestead for 15 years after her husband's death, then moved to Hiawatha in 1912, where she has since resided. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at her home at 808 Miami Street and were conducted by Rev. L.L. Hassenpflug. Rev. Hassenpflug sang "The Ninety and Nine" . . . Mrs. H.P. Welch, Rev. and Mrs. Hassenpflug sang "Sweet Bye and Bye" accompanied on the piano by Miss Nell Zimmerman. Body Bearers were Burtus Sprague, Allen Sprague, James Sprague, Earl Minnerly, Melvin Cotton, and Paul Stanberger. Interment was in Hiawatha Cemetery.
