| Description | : | A mariner, Benjamin Billings is believed to have been a member of the crew of the sloop "Betsey." He died in Norfolk, Virginia, when just 44 years of age. On 23 January 1791 Benjamin exchanged nuptials with Mary "Polly" Murphy, the daughter of Capt. John Murphy and probably Mary Bassell Murphy. The couple was blessed with several children: (1) John M.
