Everett H. Staats. The singing was by Cecil Weaver, accompanied by Mrs. Frances Wheeler and in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Ruth Eitzen and Mrs. Mabel Lane. Pall bearers were Virgil Sunderman, Cameron Lane, Elmo Day, Walter Eitzen, George Mascher, and Raymond Eitzen and interment was in the Villisca Cemetery, Sutphen Funeral Home in charge. Ben Earl Greenfield, son of Charles H. and Electra Greenfield was born in Montgomery County, near Villisca, January 27, 1887 and was 67 years old at the time of his death. As a boy he lived on a farm and attended rural school. He had three brothers, Ray, Leslie, now farming near Villisca, and Roy of Palestine, Illinois, and two sisters, Mrs. Mae Law and Mrs. Nellie Westerlund both of Villisca. In 1914, on December 24th, Ben was married to Anna Dyke, also of Valley Township in Page County, Iowa. They established their home on a farm near Villisca, where they lived nearly forty years, and where Ben passed away. Early in 1915, Ben and Mrs. Greenfield united with the Methodist Church in Hepburn. To them were born two sons, Earl and Frank, both of whom live at home, and one daughter, Catherine, who is Mrs. Arthur Coy, also of Villisca. Ben’s father preceded him in death in 1936. In his passing, Ben is survived by his wife, Anna, his sons and daughter, his mother, Mrs. Electra Greenfield, his brothers and sisters, two grandchildren, Ruth and Clayton Ben Gay, two step children, Donnie Gay, and San Carlow, California, and Mrs. Derry Carpenter, Red Oak.
