Description	:	The community is in deep sorrow Monday by the passing of Benjamin Franklin Pond, whose death was the result of blood clot which had formed in the heart. While Mr. Pond had been a victim of heart trouble for the past eight years, his death caused a shock to his loved ones and friends. Benjamin Franklin Pond, son of William Alton Pond and Viola A. James was born in Cass County, near Grant, Iowa, September 27, 1879 and died Monday, July 6, 1942 at 10 p.m. as a result of a long illness, aged 63 years, 9 months, and 10 day.... While Mr. Pond had been a victim of heart trouble for the past eight years, his death caused a shock to his loved ones and friends. Benjamin Franklin Pond, son of William Alton Pond and Viola A. James was born in Cass County, near Grant, Iowa, September 27, 1879 and died Monday, July 6, 1942 at 10 p.m. as a result of a long illness, aged 63 years, 9 months, and 10 day. Mr. Pond was married to Clara Leap December 24, 1901 at Massena, Iowa. He is survived by his wife and three children, Mrs. Gladys Walter, Nodaway, Mrs. Hazel Richie, Coring, Iowa, and Duane Pond, Nodaway. He is also survived by his mother, his father having preceded him in death; one sister, Merie Pond is also deceased. Five brothers and sisters survived there being Bert Pond, Cumberland, Iowa; Lester Pond, Harlan, Iowa; File Boeaker, Cumberland, Iowa; Leona Perly, Snydel, Colorado, and Mrs. Clara Smith, Minnesota. Mr. Pond followed the occupation of farming and came to this county 54 years ago. In early life he united with the Methodist Church. He was much liked by all who knew him and was a man of sterling qualities and fine character. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock with burial in Nodaway Cemetery.
