LAST RITES FOR FRANK MARTIN, 90, HELD SATURDAY Last earthly rites for Frank Martin, 90, who passed away some time Thursday morning June 23rd at his home in Urbana, were held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock at the Christian Church in Urbana, with Rev. E. H. Heverly of Center Point, officiating. Mrs. Paul France presided at the piano, and Mrs. Edgar S. Moore Jr. and Mrs. David Shepherd sang “Nearer My God To Thee” and “In the Sweet Bye and Bye.” Pall bearers were Wiley S. Jones, Silas Mounce, Rush Cumberland, W. L. Hepker, Albert Hepker and J. S. Cook. Burial was in the Urbana Cemetery. Benjamin Franklin Martin was born November 20, 1858 at Center Point, Iowa. His entire life-time was spent in Iowa, never leaving the state but once during his entire life. On July 3, 1879 he was united in marriage to Esther Ann Dennison, who preceded him in death seventeen years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Martin became the parents of two sons -- Jay E. Martin, who survives his father, and Harry L. Martin, deceased. Mr. Martin passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Urbana June 23, 1949. While he was past 90 years of age and bowed by the weight of years, yet he was well enough to be about and go down town daily. He had been down town the day before he passed away, and that night had enjoyed listening to the radio. He retired as usual, but some time during the early morning hours, his heart stopped beating, and in the morning the son Jay discovered that his father had gone to his eternal rest. Besides the son Jay, he is survived by three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; his brother George of Center Point; and a host of other relatives and friends. The grandchildren are Forest Martin of Eldon, Harry Martin of Garnovilla, and Mrs. Ray Meyocks of Urbana.
