Description	:	Isaac Martin was born in Montgomery Co., IN, near Crawfordsville on March 10, 1829 and died at his home near Center Point, Iowa on March 25, 1906 age 77 years and 15 days. He was one of a family of eleven children, ten boys and one girl, all of whom have preceded him to the spirit world except four brothers, three of whom live near this place and the fourth resides at Cregg, MO. Read More	Isaac Martin was born in Montgomery Co., IN, near Crawfordsville on March 10, 1829 and died at his home near Center Point, Iowa on March 25, 1906 age 77 years and 15 days. He was one of a family of eleven children, ten boys and one girl, all of whom have preceded him to the spirit world except four brothers, three of whom live near this place and the fourth resides at Cregg, MO. In 1850 he came to Iowa and entered land, then returning to Indiana he married Matilda Clark and came back to Iowa in 1857, where he has made his home ever since. To this union five children were born, four boys and one girl. Two children, Harry and Nettie, preceded the father; those remaining are George and Frank of this place and Elmer of Sioux City, IA. Since the year 1866 the deceased resided on what is known as the Isaac Martin farm southwest of town. He enlisted in Co. G. 16th Iowa, during the year of 1864 and was honorable discharged at Washington at the close of the war. He was formerly a member of the Congregational church at Greens Grove and although not a member at the time of his death, he continued faithful to his God until the last. During his last sickness he was a great sufferer, but bore up manfully during it all. He leaves to mourn his departure a loving companion, three children, four brothers besides a host of friends, who will continue to hold his memory dear. This has closed the life of another pioneer settler of this part of the state. The funeral services were held from the Evangelical Church with Rev. A.A. Couser officiating. Interment was made in the Center Point Cemetery Served in Co., G. 16 Iowa Infantry in Civil War. He was a member of Post 244 Iowa GAR.
