Stillwell Saturday evening, July 8, 1944. Frank as he was familiarly known had been suffering with a heart ailment for several years. Shortly after noon on Friday he suffered a severe attack; aid was at once summoned, and all that medical skill and loving care could do proved of no avail, and he peacefully passed into the Great Beyond at 10 o'clock Saturday evening. Benjamin Franklin Stillwell, second son of Benjamin C. and Frances (Barr) Stillwell was born near Spirit Lake, Iowa, March 26th, 1874 and passed from this life July 8, 1944 at the age of seventy years, three months and twelve days. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. His early boyhood was spent in Dickinson county. At the age of fifteen he moved with his parents to Jackson county, Minnesota in the Loon Lake community. In early manhood he was baptized and united with the Baptist church. In 1922 he was united with the Methodist church in Spirit Lake. On November 18, 1896 he was united in marriage to Myrtle E. Craft, and after a short honeymoon they started farming on what is now known as the Robertson farm later moving to a farm they had purchased and where they continued to live until 1919. Due to the poor health of Mrs. Stillwell they sold the farm and purchased a residence in Spirit Lake. Mrs. Stillwell passed away in 1924. Left alone, Frank's mother came to make her home with him and continued to make this her home until her sudden passing in the early spring of 1928. On August 23, 1930, Frank was united in marriage with Cecile Voigt and to them two daughters were born, Marchetta, now six and Linda Rae fifteen month of age. Possessed of a happy jovial disposition and generous to a fault, Frank made many friends; he always found great pleasure in helping others. His greatest joy was found in caring for his little family to whom he was utterly devoted. Besides his faithful, loving wife and two daughters he leaves to mourn his going one brother Tate, of Crosby, Minn., four sisters, Mrs. Burt Bellows, Mrs. Leo Johnson, both of Spirit Lake; Mrs. Frank Baker, of Jackson, Minn.; Mrs. Fred Percival of Wadena, Minn., several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. J. E. Feller officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Iva Slagle and Mrs. K. B. Welty with Mrs. C. G. Harmon at the piano. Burial was made at Lake View Cemetery. *The Spirit Lake Beacon, July 13, 1944
