He was using the name Lester in the 1870 census, age 17, residing with his parents Orlando and Nancy in New Hampton. Name on death record was Benjamin Lester Huckins. Lester married Lillian "Lilla" Shepard of Ashland NH on Dec 26, 1874 and had children Herbert Leroy and Mabelle Edna Huckins. He was a farm laborer. They resided in Ashland and New Hampton NH. In the 1880 census they were living with his mother Nancy in New Hampton, Lester was 27 and Lilla 25 and they had children Herbert 4 and Edna 2. His father Orlando had just died in May of that year. By 1900 Lester and Lillian were divorced and Lester was living with his mother Nancy. His mother did in 1907. Lillian was the daughter of Charles and Mary J. (Blanchard) Shepard of Ashland. She was born on Aug 1855 or Aug 12, 1858. She was 15 in the 1870 census with her parents in Ashland. She married 2nd Henry "George" G. Chase in 1898. Lilla died Oct 28, 1916 in Lebanon NH where she had resided for 30 years. Lester died of consumption and was buried Huckins Cemetery in New Hampton on August 21st, EG Gammon of Ashland undertaker.
