Description	:	Berdyna Elsie Dena (Jutting) Rook was born on October 10, 1925 to Herman and Elsie (Stauffacher) Jutting of Clear Lake, SD. She was the oldest of 10 children. Berdyna was raised and attended school in Clear Lake, SD. On January 13, 1945 she was united in marriage to Rodney Rook in Madison, MN. Berdyna worked at many jobs in Watertown, Clear Lake, and Sioux Falls. Then Rodney and Berdyna started farming in 1955 on the Rook family farm in the Hidewood. Read More	Berdyna Elsie Dena (Jutting) Rook was born on October 10, 1925 to Herman and Elsie (Stauffacher) Jutting of Clear Lake, SD. She was the oldest of 10 children. Berdyna was raised and attended school in Clear Lake, SD. On January 13, 1945 she was united in marriage to Rodney Rook in Madison, MN. Berdyna worked at many jobs in Watertown, Clear Lake, and Sioux Falls. Then Rodney and Berdyna started farming in 1955 on the Rook family farm in the Hidewood. Two daughters were born to them, Donna & Brenda. Berdyna helped with farming and milking cows. In 1970, she started working again part-time at Johnsonville as a cook. In the late 1970's she started working at the sewing factory in Estelline. After a couple years of working there, she quit to enjoy being with her grandchildren which she truly loved. They retired from farming in the 1990's due to Rodney's ill health, but continued to live on the farm until she entered the Estelline Nursing & Care Center in Estelline on September 18, 2004. She passed away there on June 18, 2008 at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 8 days. Berdyna was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Trinity Ladies Aid in Clear Lake, SD. Berdyna loved her flower garden, crocheting and making quilts for her family and other members in the family. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and getting to know her great-great-grandchildren. She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Donna Balo of Estelline, SD, Brenda (Arnie) Sween of White, SD; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters: Rose Coradova, Lois Sprau, Violet (Richard) Engels, Helen Satavick, all of Watertown, SD, Betty (Lyle) Minnick of Waterloo, IA; two brothers: Herman (Lillian) Jutting of Watertown, SD, Harold Jutting of Waterloo, IA; three sisters-in-law: Eunice Jutting of Iowa Falls, IA, Marge Jutting of Sturgis, SD, Zola Rook of Clear Lake, SD and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Berdyna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rodney Rook; parents; son-in-law Art Balo; two brothers: Melvin and Charles Jutting; four in-laws Jacob Sprau, Earl Stavick, Glen Rook, and Violet Casjens. Funeral services will be Monday, June 23, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, SD. Rev. Michael Enderle will officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake, SD. Arrangements by Houseman Family Funeral Home in Clear Lake, SD.
