Funeral services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake with the Rev. Michael Enderle officiating. Burial is in the Lakeview Cemetery in Clear Lake. Michael Enderle officiating. Burial is in the Lakeview Cemetery in Clear Lake. Rodney was born on Sept. 17, 1924, in Hidewood Township, Deuel County, to Roy and Mary (Vogt) Rook. He attended the District No. 47 country school graduating from the eighth grade. In his early teens he worked with his father in a dairy near Watertown. On January 13, 1945, he married Berdyna Jutting in Madison, Minn. Rodney worked at many jobs: Roger's Dairy in Watertown, Fritz Auto in Clear Lake and Greenlee's Packing House in Sioux Falls. He then farmed on the family homestead in the Hidewood. He retired from farming in the early 1990's due to ill health. Rodney continued to live on the family farm until March 13, 2006 when he entered the Estelline Nursing Home. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Clear Lake. He enjoyed John Deere tractors, fishing and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Berdyna Rook of Estelline; two daughters, Donna (Art) Balo of Toronto and Brenda (Arnie) Sween of White; one sister-in-law, Zola Rook of Clear Lake; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
