He was born Dec. 17, 1904, at Fergus Falls, Minn., to Claude H. and Anna Sophia (Thompson) Curtis. He moved with his parents to Oroville at a young age. He married Elouise A. Read More	Wenatchee World - August 16, 1993 EAST WENATCHEE _ Bernard C. ``Bud'' Curtis, 88, a longtime Cashmere resident and businessman, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1993, at the home of his daughter in East Wenatchee, following a short illness. He was born Dec. 17, 1904, at Fergus Falls, Minn., to Claude H. and Anna Sophia (Thompson) Curtis. He moved with his parents to Oroville at a young age. He married Elouise A. Troutman on Dec. 24, 1925, in Omak, where they made their first home. Mr. Curtis worked in a local bank until moving to Cashmere in 1930. He opened his first grocery store in Cashmere in 1932 and named it Curtis-C Market. He also operated grocery stores in Monitor and Leavenworth. Mr. Curtis opened Curtis Thriftway in 1956 in East Wenatchee, which he and his son, Bob, operated until the store closed in 1972. He retired that year and was later instrumental in forming the group that built Wenatchee Valley Mall. He was a charter member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Cashmere. He also was a member of the Cashmere Lions Club and the Washington State Food Dealers Association. Survivors include his wife, at the home; two sons, Robert L., Wenatchee, and Richard L., Seattle; one daughter, Mrs. Ernie (Carolyn L.) McCart, East Wenatchee; two brothers, Bill, Oroville, and Ernie, Spokane; one sister, Mildred Greene, Spokane; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
