Carroll Daily Times Herald - Monday, April 4, 1955 - Lidderdale - Final rites for Bernard E. Albers, 78, retired farmer were held Friday afternoon. Mr. Albers, who had been in failing health for three years, died early Wednesday morning at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. Brief services at the Huffman Funeral Home in Carroll were followed by rites at Immanuel Lutheran Church here at 2 o'clock. The Rev. N.A. Hannemann, pastor of the church officiated. Hymns were sung by the church choir, with Albert Daenzer at the organ. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery here. Pallbearers were Arnold Sporleder, Carl Kroeger, Chris Wenck, Dan Wenck, Adolph Wurr and John Rohrbeck, Mr. Albers is survived by his wife, the former Christena Emmick of Carroll; four sons: Clarence, Beardsley, Minn.; Wilbert, Wilton, Minn.; Arthur, Fairbanks, Alaska; and Oliver, Sac City; one daughter, Mrs, Laura Onken, Carroll; and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Emmick and Mrs. Cord Best of Lake City, all of whom, with the exception of Arthur Albers, were present at the funeral services. Relatives attending from away included: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Marks and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Albers, Pierce, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Albers, Redwood Falls, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Arends, Mrs. Margaret Albers and Mrs. Marjorie Imker, Lamberton, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Al Beisch, Manning; Mr. and Mrs. Certrall, Vinton; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Emmick, Waterloo; Arnold Kranz, Edna Kranz, Mrs. August Jensen and Mrs. Carl Kirkman and daughter, Newhall; Mrs. Scheat, Van Horn, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Elliott, Amos. There were many other relatives and friends from the surrounding area. Mr. Albers was preceded in death by a son, Woodrow Albers, who died in France Oct. 7, 1944, and two brothers, Fred and John Albers. He was a lifelong resident of Sheridan Township, Carroll County, where he was born July 29, 1876. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Albers, Carroll County pioneers.
