Read More	Bernard Gale Kinnison was a son of Arthur LeRoy Kinnison and Ethel Mae Elliott. Bernard died why he was is basic camp for World War two. He was only 21, He would have been 22 the 24th of Feb. Bernard Gale Kinnison was born February 24, 1922 on a farm near Angus. On March 3, 1933 he united with the U.B. Church at Angus where his membership still continues. He attended the Angus schools through the seventh grade, then with his parents he moved to Nelson where he finished his schooling, graduating with the Class of 1941. He was an outstanding athlete and received many honors in athletics. After graduation he went to Dayton, Wyoming, to be with his sister Maxine and started working for Mr. Leonard Masters of the O Z Ranch. Except for a few months spent working for the railroad near Lake Michigan, he spent the greater part of three years with Mr. Masters on the ranch. He felt the call to save his country and on December 22, 1943, he enlisted in the United States Navy. On January 2, 1944, he started training at the U.S. Naval training station at Farragut, Idaho. After three weeks of training, he was put in the Naval Hospital with a cold. Bernard's condition gradually became worse with complications and later bronchial pneumonia developing after measles. He passed away February 4, 1944 at the U.S. Naval Hospital at Farragut, Idaho, at the age of 21 years, 11 months and four days. Bernard was not yet 22 years old and was in active naval service only a month, but he gave as much for his country as any battle front hero. He leaves to mourn his loss, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur R. Kinnison of Nelson; two brothers, Robert at home, Lyle of Oak; five sisters, Mrs. Arland Jeffs and Mrs. Keith Buerer of Edgar, Mrs. Orin Spurling of Davenport, Mrs. Johnnie Meich of Wyola, Montana, Roma Lu at home; his Grandfather P.C. Elliott of Edgar; and a host of friends and schoolmates. The funeral service was held at the Angus U.B. church (sic) Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. James E. Tracey of York, with burial in the Edgar cemetery (sic). A Guard of Honor, Firing Squad and Color Guard of Marines from Hastings, under the command of Lt. Sullivan, conducted a military service at the grave. Singers: Virginia Ingram, Eileen Aikin, Winerford Foust and Lowell Powell. Pallbearers: Arthur Haidsiak, Harold Runga, Lloyd Bargen, Donnie Iliff, Junior Wroughton, and Mr. Riley. Pharmacist Mate 3rd class, who accompanied the body here from Farragut. Flower Girls: Arnita Hattan, Lorrayne Ferebee, Doris Troudt, Patsy Ann King, Jo Ann Powell, Betty Adamson, Wilma Jean Adamson, Melba Brown. In Appreciation We wish to thank our friends and neighbors, the Nelson and Edgar American Legion Posts, The American Legion Auxiliary, the Marines from the Hastings Naval Depot, the pallbearers, the flower girls, the singers and everyone who helped in any way in the time of our sorrow.
