The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, April 2, 1981; pg. 6 ========================= Roma Lue Cannon, one of eight children of Arthur Roy and Ethel Mae Elliot Kinnison, was born September 13, 1925, at Angus, Nebraska, and passed away March 31, 1981, at her home at Nelson at the age of 55 years, 6 months and 18 days. She attended the Angus rural school and Nelson public schools and has lived in Beatrice, Geneva, Decatur, Angus and Nelson. May 31, 1946, Roma was united in marriage to Bluford Cannon at Marysville, Kansas. To this union a son and a daughter were born. Mrs. Cannon was a member of the Superior Eagles Auxiliary and Nelson V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliary. Nelson High School sports were very important to Roma, she very seldom missed a game. A favorite pastime for her was crossword puzzles. Roma was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Bluford, who died March 10, 1981; one brother and two sisters. Surviving are a son, Terry of Hastings; a daughter, Janet of Nelson; her mother, Ethel Kinnison of Edgar; a granddaughter, Amy Cannon of Nelson; two brothers, Lyle Kinnison of Pierce, Colorado, and Bob Kinnison of Kennewick, Washington; two sisters, Leila Buerer of Edgar and Cecil Spurling of Nelson; and a host of other relatives and many friends. Services were held Saturday, April 4, 1981, at 10:30 a.m. from the Klawitter Funeral Home Chapel in Nelson, with Rev. Charles Carter officiating. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Buerer, Duane Flower, Mike Humiston, Fred Jeffs, Roy Kinnison and Larry Spurling. "Mansion Over the Hilltop" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" were sung by Cloma Corman and Ruth McClure with Jan Schnitker as organist. The Klawitter Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.
