Description	:	Bernard J. "Ben" Stalp, 86 years, of West Point, NE died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at his home. He was born March 22, 1927 on a farm near West Point, NE to Bernard and Anna (Uhing) Stalp. He was a graduate of Guardian Angels High School in West Point and St. Louis College of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, MO. Ben started the Stalp Funeral Home in West Point in 1952. "Ben" Stalp, 86 years, of West Point, NE died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at his home. He was born March 22, 1927 on a farm near West Point, NE to Bernard and Anna (Uhing) Stalp. He was a graduate of Guardian Angels High School in West Point and St. Louis College of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, MO. Ben started the Stalp Funeral Home in West Point in 1952. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from Jan. 29, 1953 to Dec. 16, 1954. He returned home and reopened the Stalp Funeral Home, which he operated for 46 years, until retiring in 2000. Ben was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at West Point and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #4912 of West Point. He was a former member of the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. He is survived by sisters, Lucille Miller of Fort Worth, TX, Carol Revel of San Rafael, CA, Mary Ann Kelly of Roswell, N.M.; brother, Henry "Hank" Stalp of Fountain Hills, AZ; sister-in-law, Illa Stalp of West Point, NE; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Stalp; and sisters, Dolores Stalp and Sally Lubker. Memorial Mass, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, NE. The Rev. Fr. Gerald Gonderinger will officiate. There is no visitation. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may given to the donor's choice. Moser Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
