OBITUARY - Mass of the Christian Burial for Bernard (Ben) Meiners Sr., 86, of Willey, who died Wednesday, August 15, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 17, at St. Mary church in Willey with the Rev. Ed Tiedeman as celebrant. Gene Meiners will be lector, Donna Meiners and Carol Naberhaus giftbearers and Alan Meiners, Mark and Kevin Brincks mass-servers. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Duane, Donald, Dan and Rick Meiners; Joseph Wittrock and Steven Naberhaus. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2 p.m. Thursday. Rosaries will be recited at the funeral home at 3, 8 and 8:45 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Meiners is survived by four sons: John, Templeton; Albert and Bernard, both of Coon Rapids, and Tony Meiners, Dedham; two daughters: Mrs. Clarence (Catherine) Wittrock, Carroll, and Mrs. Norbert (Marcella) Naberhaus, Carroll; 36 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and six step grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Henry Meiners, Dedham. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Catherine on October 14, 1958; two grandchildren, three sisters & three brothers. Mr. Meiners was born September 4, 1897, at Dedham, a son of Gerhard and Catherine Schroeder Meiners. He spent his entire life on the farm two miles southeast of Willey. He attended St. Mary school at Willey. On April 13, 1920, he was married to Catherine Rotert at Holy Angels church in Roselle by the Rev. John Gehling. After their marriage, they made their home on the farm. After his wife's death, he continued to live on the farm until 1980 when he entered the nursing home. He was a member of St. Mary parish.
